It's disturbing that anyone needs to write a manifesto defending women's pants, but I'm glad Simcha has stepped up to the plate.   Clip 'n' save for the next rant you encounter.

I happen to be pretty comfortable in a long-ish skirt a lot of the time, even here in Minnesota (hint:  Italian wool stockings), but yeah, it's not a moral issue.

The whole male-female pants-skirt dichotomy stems from needing to pee comfortably in the woods, anyway.   On the subject of which, incidentally, I recommend Chapter Six of this book.  And yeah, a hiking skirt does help.

  2. Thanks for the tip about the wool stockings… I always wimp out on the skirts once it gets cold, although I do like wearing skirts better. Nylons just don’t do enough to keep me warm!!

  3. If she has an axe to grind, it’s probably because she’s heard that kind of rant before. Simcha’s points are great and I endorse her viewpoint, especially the obvious one that if pants on women are inappropriate because too revealing of their curves, then they must also be too revealing of MEN’S curves, hence not appropriate for either sex.
Re: wool stockings and tights, they are pricey but totally worth it if you live in the cold and do like to wear skirts (as I do). Buy a good quality brand, take good care of them and they will last a long time.
