Guess the date and weight.

Jamie suggested I distract myself from the Detach-o-Pelvis by running the traditional date/time/weight guessing game in my combox.

Relevant data for Jamie to run through her statistical analysis programs:

  • 3 out of 3 labors began on Monday.  But 2 out of 3 births were on Tuesday.
  • Birth times:  around 3 PM, around 3 AM, around 4 PM.
  • Oscar was 10 lb, 11 oz at birth.  Milo was 9 lb, 4 oz.  MJ was 9 lb even.
  • Oscar was born 4 days past due.  Milo, 10 days early.  MJ, 1 day early.
  • Due date (by LMP because of neglectful charting) is 1/28, though I have been measuring a week "older."

You are also welcome to guess what we are going to name the baby, who (according to the ultrasound technician) has a penis.  Also whether he turns out to be left-handed like his dad, mom, brothers, and sister.

  1. I am tired of looking at my stats program. I am using a metaphorical dowsing rod here.
1/28, 3:30a, 9#12. How about Aloysius [patron of Catholic youth] Aquinas [1/28 feast day]? (Kidding. But wouldn’t it be alliterative?)

  2. I’ll come back with a birth guess, but for now I’m jealous of your lefties. I’m a lefty but no one else in my generation or the elder one is. My dad has a few lefty tendencies and we suspect my grandma had left-handedness beaten out of her. I sort of joke that I’ll keep having kids until I produce a lefty. I’m 0 for 2 so far. I did a report in 9th grade that determined that a lefty mother has a 20% chance of a child being left-handed, a lefty father has a 10% chance, and both parents being lefties gives a 40% chance.

  3. I’ll go for the continuing shrinking baby trend and say 8 lbs 10 oz, Jan 20th 11:16pm.

  4. My left-handed 10yo would be envious, btw. My husband and I are both right-handed, as are his four siblings. (We can’t tell for sure about the baby, but she’s looking right-handed so far.)

  5. I’ll guess 26/1 at 4 am, 8 lbs and 8 oz.
The name part is really hard for me because I have no idea what Americans are naming their babies at the moment. Especially not American Catholics who like slightly unusual names. Anton? Lawrence? Carl? Have no idea.

  6. 1/25, 8AM, 8 pounds 10 ounces. No guess on a name here, though I’m excited to hear. Happy birthing!
