Fruit salad bleg.

Please help me find an autumn fruit salad.  Preferably one with no Red Delicious apples or mayonnaise in it.

Look, this is my favorite fruit salad:

  • cantaloupe chunks
  • sliced strawberries
  • halved grapes
  • sliced kiwifruit
  • dressed with a dressing of lime juice, honey, and chopped fresh mint.

Can anyone help me out for something kind of similarly fresh and enjoyable, only with fruit that's plentiful and inexpensive in the fall?

  1. Who needs a recipe for fruit salad? ๐Ÿ™‚ My favorite combo is peaches and strawberries, and frozen berries of all sorts are in season all year round. I seldom put dressing of any sort on fruit salad–I just don’t think it needs it. But a little bit of vanilla (or complementary flavored) yogurt works pretty well if you really want something. Likewise, loading the fruit up in Jell-O . . . to the point that you’ve got so much fruit that the Jell-O is mostly just a bit of a binding agent can work well too. Peaches and blueberries in orange Jell-O is a suprisingly good combo.

  3. Thanks for all the ideas…. I will try to implement one next week.
Apples and carrots are a smack head no-brainer that I should have thought of. One of my dinner table staples is raw grated carrots with lemon and salt, or sometimes, carrots with raisins, sunflower seeds, and just a bit of yogurt for the tang. Carrot and fruit would work! i wonder if Asian pears, with their apple-y crunchiness, would go extra nicely.
