I think my running days are over.

For now anyway. I tried to run on the treadmill yesterday evening and couldn't manage it even for a few minutes — far too much round ligament pain. I had to settle for a brisk walk — but even 4.0 miles per hour was too fast for me to sustain for more than about 20 minutes.  I backed down to 3.5 and completed my workout, really sore.

Swimming's much more comfortable, but I have a feeling it would be good for me to keep on trying to do something weight-bearing, like the brisk walking, at least once or twice a week for the rest of the pregnancy.

Gratuitous belly shot for ya, complete with messy living room:

Not too shabby for 23 weeks, eh?  Mark says by the end of this pregnancy I'll need a trolley to cart my front end around on.

I’m impressed that you’ve been able to run this far along! You rock!

  2. What Rebekka said. I had such bad sciatica I could just about waddle across the room.
Love the belly shot. Must be because I’m tall, my belly looks about like that at 38 weeks. Some people at church didn’t realize I was expecting until the last month or so. Though I felt huge enough.

  3. I’m 5’2″, and I always tell people that when you’re this short, you have nowhere for the baby to go but out!
And, of course, Erin is not even that tall. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Great shot! What I like about it is that you can’t tell whether it is just Mark behind you or if it is Mark plus one, two, or even three kids ๐Ÿ˜‰
So glad you have a routine of swimming to keep you going. I used to do deep water aerobics (shallow water tended to be low-cardio) when I was pregnant. Might be worth seeing if your Y has it at a convenient time if you need a break from laps.

You really do look great, Erin!
I am 13 weeks pregnant right now and haven’t yet changed my running routine much (two 4+-milers a week and one 9+-miler on the weekend), though I am definitely slowing down. I have a short torso also and have always had problems with round-ligament pain and sciatica toward the end of my second trimester, so I am hoping I can keep up at least some running until then. After that, I’ll have to switch to just walking, which after getting used to running, I now find really inefficient! But whatever gets the job done, I suppose.
    Anyway, wonderful belly shot!
