I've read Amy Welborn's blog daily for years now.  Last night I clicked on her blog just before bed to read the sad news of her 50-year-old husband Michael Dubruiel's collapse and death yesterday morning.

Truly we don't know the day or the hour, and it is all too easy for those of us who, like Amy, are raising small children, to imagine ourselves left to do it as widow or widower.

Comments on her blog are closed but thoughts and prayers are being gathered here for her.

  1. Thanks for the link to the spiritual bouquet. I left my own comments there. I was completely shocked to hear of his passing. Reminds us again that death happens to us all and can occur at any moment.

  2. I actually thought of you and the avalanche when I heard the news. Thank God again for your family’s safety, and may Michael rest in the arms of Mary.

  3. Yes, I’m afraid that the proximity of my near-miss to the Welborn-Dubruiel family’s terrible loss has kept them in my mind quite vividly this week.
i bought several of Dubruiel’s books this week. The publisher (OSV) has said they will double his proceeds for books sold in February to benefit the children’s college fund. Some of them have been on my wish list for a while, so may as well pick them up this month when they can do both me AND them some good.
