"Ave Maria" and "Dona Nobis Pacem" are not Christmas songs.
Not that they're inappropriate for the season. I'm just saying.

Wow! I say if “wider culture” chooses to play any of the above mentioned at Christmas and actually takes a moment to think a bit about Mary, Pray for Peace, or even exclaim Hallelujah then play it out loud!! I’ll play it again at Easter, I promise. Anything to counter-act Rudolph and the Holly-Jollies…

I’m with you Arwen. And the Christmas parts of the Messiah are so lovely themselves. But they get short shrift.

Good call, Arwen!
I’m not complaining about hearing them at Christmas, Kim In IA… I just think it’s kind of amusing that a large segment of people thinks of them as Christmas music, when they’re not seasonal per se — but are year-round songs.

Can I add the Peanuts theme song to the list? They were playing that on the Christmas radio station tonight.
